I am passionate about working with those who: Note any or all that apply:
Struggle with the anxiety and the challenges that middle school, high school and the early 20's bring.
Experience depression or anxiety to the point where it is taking over certain areas of their lives.
Have difficult relationships with their parents/family members and want to improve them through communication skills and changing their thought patterns.
Have experienced traumatic events and need tools to cope.
Who I am, professionally:
A teacher: I use a lot of psychoeducation in my approach, teaching skills and topics to help you understand what is happening inside your mind. You don’t know what you don’t know. I'm here to help you understand how to cope with situations that have been stressful or overwhelming in the past.
Teenage Specialist: I work primarily with adolescents 12-18 years old.
Not a teenager? I see adults up to 30 years old. My experience as the Lead Therapist at Research Psychiatric Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program gave me experience in working with a variety of issues and age ranges.
Who I am, personally:
My therapeutic approach:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): our thoughts impact our emotions, which then impact our behaviors. If we can take control of our thoughts, we can have much more control over our feelings and the way we react to situations.
Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): “If a miracle occurred while you were asleep tonight, what changes would you notice in your life tomorrow?” Think about it, and then let’s create goals to make it a reality.
Work in and out of my therapy office: lasting change will not occur if work is only being done while in therapy. It is important to utilize the skills and tools learned in therapy while at home, school or work.
